CHRISTIAN EDUCATION TEAM
The Team has been discussing some new strategies for working with our children and youth. Instead of having a traditional “Sunday School” the team has decided to try a new approach for our children. This new program will be taught during the Worship Hour as indicated above. The children (grade K-8) will participate in the first part of worship (announcements, praise songs) and when the Family Time is done, they will be excused to attend Kids Connection or Caught in the Middle.
The curriculum for grades K-5 is called 252 Basics. The program is based on Biblical Virtues, concentrating on one virtue each month. The curriculum for grades 6-8 will be determined soon, but may be 252 Basics as well.
At this time, based on the numbers of children grade K-5 we have in our church family, one adult and one teen helper will be leading this ministry. Each adult leader will teach for about one month (4-5 weeks) so that all the lessons on a specific virtue are taught by the same person. This will help the adult leader to see the growth in the understanding of that month’s theme. Based on the numbers of youth grade 6-8 we have in our church family, one adult will be leading this ministry.
During the month of September, Cindy Sechrist will be leading the Kids Connection and Rance Sechrist will be leading Caught in the Middle. There will be a fun “Grand Opening” type of celebration sometime in October.
If you are interested in volunteering as a leader for Kids Connection or Caught in the Middle, please contact Cindy.
Please Note: High School Youth Group and Adult Studies are being planned for the fall. Please know that your input about topics is valued! Please see Cindy or Pastor Syd with ideas for adult studies.
