 Sunday School

The Team has been discussing some new strategies for working with our children and youth. Instead of having a traditional “Sunday School” the team has decided to try a new approach for our children. This new program will be taught during the Worship Hour as indicated above. The children (grade K-8) will participate in the first part of worship (announcements, praise songs) and when the Family Time is done, they will be excused to attend Kids Connection or Caught in the Middle.

The curriculum for grades K-5 is called 252 Basics. The program is based on Biblical Virtues, concentrating on one virtue each month. The curriculum for grades 6-8 will be determined soon, but may be 252 Basics as well.

Please Note: High School Youth Group and Adult Studies are still in planning for the fall.

More information about the 252 Basics program can be found at www.whatisorange.org .

Adult Groups

Men's Fellowship - meets on the 2nd Saturday morning of each month, at 8:00 AM, at a local resturant for food, fellowship, and discussion of various topics.

Seniors' Lunch - meets once a month on the Monday closest to the 20th, at 11:30 AM, in a local resturant for food and fellowship.  While our seniors are still the focus, adults of any age are welcome to come.

King's Chorus is our Church Choir.  This group brings us a variety of worship music, from traditional to contemporary.  Anyone with a desire to sing is encouraged to join this joyful group. They practice Sunday evenings at 7 PM. Twice a year, during Lent and Advent, the King's Chorus presents a Worship Cantata as a special celebration of His word.

King's Kids - is our children's choir.  Ages generally range from Kindergarten to 7th grade.  Meetings are seasonal, but generally early evening on Sundays.

Bell Choir - is an intergenerational group.  Ages generally range from Kindergarten to Seniors.  Meetings are seasonal, but generally early evening on Sundays.

Youth Groups

Friendship Club - Kindergarten through 5th Grade

This group is for our younger members.  Friendship club meets, on an average, once a month for fun and fellowship.  Some of the activities have included; packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, Scavenger Hunt, Pumpkin Carving, Corn Maze, Making valentines...and more.

Middle School Youth - 6th through 8th Grade

Our 'tweens' enjoy getting together on a regular basis.  This group has its own activities, as well as getting together with our other Youth Groups.  Service and fun come together in such activities as: Scavenger Hunt, Pumpkin Carving, Corn Maze, Operation Christmas Child, Caroling, Movie Night, Super Bowl Party, Watson Homestead, and Slot car racing...just to name a few.

High School Youth - 9th through 12th Grade

Currently meeting Thursday Nights

Teens need to be with teens, and they need that good influence to keep them on track.  The High School youth group shows our teens that fun and being a Christian just naturally go together.  They enjoy getting together for the Corn Maze, Christmas Party, Caroling, Super Bowl Party, Watson Homestead, Movies, games, and discussing topics important to kids of this age. We are very proud of our active teen group.

Special Activities

Watson Homestead - A once a year Youth Retreat, hosted by the Chemung Steuben Association.

M..A.D. Week - Our unique Summer Vacation Bible School.  M.A.D. stands for Music, Art, And Drama.  Students in K-7 spend each morning learning a an important lesson while having fun making sets, singing songs, and putting together a presentation.  Older youth often volunteer as helpers.  At the end of the week the presentation is put on for family members and church friends.  This group draws in many from our community who do not even attend our church.  Fun while learning, the best of both worlds.
