What is Pack 86???

Cub Scout Pack 86 is a group of boys, in grades 1 – 5, and their adult leaders (parents of boys in the pack) who are interested in the many opportunities available through Scouting. Most of us are from the Big Flats area and we represent a wide variety of backgrounds.

Cub Scout packs are divided into Dens of up to about 10 boys who are the same grade level and Cub Scout rank (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos I and II). Den meetings are usually held once a week and Pack meetings are held once a month during the school year. Most meetings last about an hour.

What Do We Do???

Fun, fun, fun, with some learning in there too! Activities are geared to each group’s level. There are crafts, games, sports, songs, and more. Most things are geared towards helping the boys earn advancement awards for each rank. There are also opportunities to earn awards for participating in sports and academics such as archery, soccer, touch football, ultimate Frisbie, math, astronomy, art, citizenship and more, more, more. Cub Scouts build pinewood cars to race, go on field trips, go to Day Camp and/or Resident Camp in the summer, and take trips with all the families. We even get together with other packs in our area to do things like race Pushmobile cars. In the past, our pack has marched in parades, had a race car driver visit our pack, slept on a battleship, learned how to make a model rocket, and so much more. All the while the boys learn valuable skills and knowledge that they will use throughout their lives.

“There is a reason for everything boys do in Cub Scouting. Apart from the fun and excitement, the aim of Cub Scouting is to help boys grow into good citizens who are strong in character and personally fit. This is why we say that Cub Scouting is fun with a purpose.” (BSA)
